Cleaning up the Residential Area

Who: Obi-Wan Kenobi and You!
What: Tidying up the place!
When: Any day between their arrival and the first tests.

Thanks to Aerith healing his wounds, it didn’t take Obi-Wan long to feel like himself again. Or, well, as much like himself as possible considering circumstances.

While he didnt much care for this place, the Jedi is patient, and waiting for an opportunity to find a way out. It’s clear that won’t be easy. At least somewhat feigning cooperation might help though. But for now, what he simply can’t stand is to willingly live in filth. This whole place has obviously seen better days. If they were going to live here for awhile, he would like it to be at least somewhat comfortable.

So anyone milling about might find this man making such an attempt. Going around picking up and reorganizing the furniture, cleaning them as best be can, and discarding anything broken or is clearly trash that they can’t use. This will extend to the kitchen and the bathrooms as well. Though he will let the ladies handle their own.

Anyone is welcome to come help him, though he won’t ask. You can also just watch and make comments at him if you like. He won’t reallt mind.

Darius hadn't seen the other man in a bit, not since the bathroom and ice. It's startling to see that the damage is now completely gone as if it never existed in the first place. Ice and time would certainly not do that under any circumstances. Which meant that either there was more to The Cooler than he'd known from the schematics (not including the areas blocked off and unlabeled), or someone had an ability that was beyond his world's comprehension. Both were possible with the way things were and how unknown everything was.

He noticed Obi-Wan moving for something particularly unwieldy and made his way over. "Need a hand with that?" His tone was friendly; after all, he didn't dislike the man. In fact, he seemed rather pleasant - even if their first meeting had contained far more blood than Darius liked.

It had been more blood than Obi-Wan liked too. Especially since it was coming from him. However, Darius’ help had been appreciated, and so he certainly has no qualms with him coming over to help him move a large shelving unit.

“Yes, thank you,” he said as he grabbed one end and let the other man get the other.

He had already taken all the contents off and neatly stacked them nearby to sort later. But right now he was moving it to a more convenient corner he had already cleaned.

It was nice that he managed to get along with everyone else so far, besides Anakin.

He takes his end and manages to move (mostly) with Obi-Wan. Moving in sync with someone you've never met before can be difficult, even at the best of times.

"I didn't expect to see anyone doing decorating here." But of course, this could be how the man decompressed. Not everyone could be in Darius and Grace's situation, where being here was in its way, better than being home. Not that he would press that thought, there was still a million horrible things going on back home that he had to try and stop from happening.

He decided not to mention Obi-Wan's miraculous facial clearing up; it seemed rude.

“There is not much else to do,” Obi-Wan says back as they awkwardly move the piece of furniture.

In Obi-Wan’s case, he can’t really say this is any better or worse than his situation before coming here. Though being here with an angry Anakin did count towards it being worse.

Once the shelving unit was properly situated, he stood back and gave Darius a nod of thanks.

“Besides, if we are to live here for the foreseeable future, might as well make it livable.”

He assessed the positioning before turning to Obi-Wan. "That's fair. There should be some lose materials that can be scavenged for medical supplies, at least for now." In truth, he wondered what it would take for LACUNA to actually give them supplies. He doubted that she didn't have them on the ship(?). This, much like everything else was probably an assessment to see how resourceful they were, well, that and a carrot and stick approach to controlling them.

"Darius Tanz, by the way." He offered Obi-Wan his hand. "I don't think I ever introduced myself."

Obi-Wan wasn't expecting anything from LACUNA aside from their "basic needs". Whatever her definition of that might be.

"Indeed, you never know what you might find while cleaning."

Perhaps even something useful in getting them out of here even???

Looking at the offered hand, the Jedi smiled lightly and reached out to shake.

"No, but there were more important things to deal with at the time," he said with a chuckle. "Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"And now, cleaning." There was an appreciative smirk on his face. He couldn't help but admire the man for his ability to keep calm in a place where someone (other than their captors) was out to murder him in cold blood. "The pleasure's mine. It's good to know that Grace and I aren't the only ones who can accept the bizarre."

Though, in truth, the other man he's spoken to, the one who was asking about AI, seemed to be doing a good job himself.

“The bizarre is not unusual where I’m from,” Obi-Wan said with a chuckle.

And of course it depends on your definition of bizarre.

“Grace is a friend of yours I take it? Where are you from?”

Obi-Wan knew that they were a group of different people from different places but he hasn’t fully grasped the fact how different yet.

"Grace is, quite a bit more than a friend, more the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with." Darius had no shame in stating it aloud and to anyone who would listen. If LACUNA were listening, he doubted that it was new knowledge to her. There wasn't a need to hide it.

"As for where we're from," In truth, there wasn't much of a way to tell if people were from different realities, but there was a difference about Obi-Wan and, quite frankly, his name in general, that made Darius suspect that they weren't from the same one. "I think there's a good chance that we're not from the same Earth. Unless you have knowledge of a rather nasty political civil war in America."

"Oh, I see."

That would certainly be more than a friend. He understands that quite well. Though he never planned to marry due to being a Jedi, there was one point in his life where he might have.

There was then a blink of confusion as Darius went on.

"Earth? America? I'm afraid I not familiar with either of those. Are they planets?"

If Darius knew about Jedi and their rules for living he would have decided then and there that he could never be one. Interpersonal relationships were important. They were what drove people to become better than what they were, what connected them to the fundamental core of what made something human.

When Obi-Wan seemed confused when he asked and stated that he knew nothing of Earth or America; that threw Darius off. He hadn't expected there to be people who didn't actually know what the Earth was. Did this mean that Obi-Wan didn't know about the Milkey Way?

"Earth is. America is more of a country, if they have those in your world. It's a collective group of people who've formed their own ruling body, culture, etcetera."

A lot of people would feel that way. It's something you pretty much have to grow up into. He was used to people finding his way of life distasteful.

"I know what a country is, though the idea is a bit archaic. Worlds are their own ruling body, and there's no need to divide it up on most."

He can only assume that Darius is from a primitive world that he's never heard of.

"I'm afraid we currently only have one habitable world where I'm from." He was working on another, of course. At least that's what The Salvation was for. Now it was more of a way to keep the human race from being annihilated because of man's stupidity and hubris.

"I assume you have several more than a few inhabited planets then?" Honestly, this was rather facinating.

"I see..." Obi-Wan said thoughtfully, his hand on his chin. This was all quite perplexing.

"Yes, thousands actually. I can only assume you are not from my galaxy."

So then did that mean those behind LACUNA had the ability to capture people over very great distances?

Darius raises a brow when he realizes that Obi-Wan didn't know about the multiverse connection this had. Surprising, but with the fact that the man had a furious madman chasing after him, Darius assumed he didn't have much time to take in those sort of conversations.

"No, not all of us are from the same version of reality. Felix and I figured that out when I had to explain that an AI was." Several other things too, but the whole AI thing was a good enough example. "I didn't realize it wasn't common knowledge just yet."

He'd had a few conversations, and knew that people came from different planets from outside of his galaxy. But different realities? Considering a certain conundrum that... would make some sense. But how was it possible?

"I suppose that would explain Anakin," he muttered to himself as his hand covered his mouth while in deep thought.

Darius, on the other hand, hadn't thought of alternate galaxies (he probably should have, really). He'd jumped right to the idea of multi-universe theory. It was the more fun theory, after all. Thinking there was a different version of himself in all of these different places and wondering what they were like had been a good diversion for a few moments.

"Anakin?" He hadn't heard that name before. Then again, he hadn't been making a strong effort to get to know everyone around. He should. It was important to gather allies in a situation like this.

“The man that attacked me,” Obi-Wan explained. “His name is Anakin Skywalker. I suppose I shouldn’t have expected he would introduce himself like a civilized person.”

This was said with a sigh. Pretty much nothing Anakin has done do far has been civilized. He was a loose canon, and it was largely his fault. His mere presence seemed to set him off.

“The last time I saw him... he was... physically different.”

That’s putting it extremely mildly.

"So, different times as well." It was an interesting idea, as well as and a worrying one. If these people could transverse both worlds and times, well, that was more than he thought his world could even think about doing. He wasn't sure about the other worlds though.

"At the risk of prying, what was he like before?"

"You mean after," Obi-Wan corrected solemnly.

Taking in a breath, he let it out again as he recalled the still fresh memories.

"For me, the incident happened a couple weeks ago."

There was a pause, his eyes not making contact.

"Let's just say, he should be dead."

With what he had been doing to Obi-Wan, Darius could venture an educated guess on who would have been the one to kill him. He'd like to think it had been self-defense, that Obi-Wan hadn't tried to murder the man in cold blood. At least he hoped that was the case.

"Mind if I ask, why?" It was important to know.

Again there was a pause, Obi-Wan’s expression distant. After a moment though his hand scrubbed across his beard.

“He had done terrible things, and had to be stopped.”

Which was said with certainty. But then one might wonder why he looked so remorseful.

Darius didn't have to wonder why he sounded that way. He'd seen the man after the incident, talked to him, and had hoped that the two could reconcile. Now, he wasn't sure that they could. At least not yet, and possibly not ever, if what he had done was unforgivable. But there was a lot, in Darius' opinion, that could be forgiven.

He didn't pry anymore into it, there was a feeling that Obi-Wan might break if he spoke more on it. Darius didn't want to hurt the man any more than his former friend seemed to be doing by simply being here (and attacking him at every turn). "I'm sorry, truly." He meant it too. No one should have to be put into a situation where they had to harm someone they loved.

Whether it could be forgiven depended on one's point of view. Obi-Wan also believed in forgiveness, but if Anakin didn't turn from his ways, even forgiving him might not change anything.

Glancing at Darius, the man just nodded at the other's words. "Thank you."

The sympathy is appreciated, even if it won't do much good in the long run. Taking in a breath, the Jedi then looked around the room.

"Well, I think I might be done with this for today."

Time for a change of subject, and Obi-Wan wasn't much in the mood for cleaning anymore for now.

Darius looked around at all the cleaning the other man had done. It was impressive, to say the least. "Are you planning on keeping this up every day then?"

“I don’t see why not,” Obi-Wan said casually.

“Finding some sort of routine would be good, and there aren’t exactly many options here.”

"I'd like to help if you're agreeable with that."

As the days moved, one to another, it was becoming more and more clear to Felix that this wasn't some strange fever dream, that he really was in a completely different reality, trapped with strangers, and awaiting some sort of strange "testing" by a disembodied voice he'd been told was called an "AI Computer". There was little to no information on the terminals related to "computers" and none on "AIs" and so he'd decided to busy himself with more mundane tasks. Joinin Obi-Wan in moving the sofa on the commons seemed like a good place to star.

The younger man smiles amicably enough as he approaches, raising a hand in greeting as well.

"Would you like a hand? It is our furniture, after all."

The moment that Obi-Wan got his face smashed in, by a naked man who should be dead, was the moment he had realized this was nodream. He’s glad no one else has had that experience here yet. It wasn’t a pleasant one. At least his face is better now.

Busy pulling the sofa away from the wall, the Jedi then looked up at the offer of help with a smile.

“I would appreciate that, thank you.”

He could certainly move it with the Force if he wanted to, but with how cluttered everything was still he decided it was better to take more care.

"Well, we're all on the same team." Felix took up a position on the opposite end of the sofa. Not only was it nice to have something to do, it was nice to be of a body stable enough to do it. He's spent the last few years battling a seemingly terminal illness, after all. Recovery was a wonderful thing. He nodded to Obi-Wan.

"On three?"

“That we are,” Obi-Wan replies as he took hold of his end of the couch. He then nodded in acknowledgment.

“One, two, three...”

Lifting the sofa up with Felix’s help they were able to do rather easily. With the Jedi nodding his head in the direction of a space he had cleared out for it. Once they put it down, he looked back to where it had been. A lot of dust, dirt, debris, and random things that had been underneath and behind it.

“I have to wonder how long all this has been sitting here.”

He didn't move his own eyes from the spot vacated by the sofa, either, frowning at the debris. Even further proof they weren't the first to call this unfortunate place home, and most likely wouldn't be the last.

"And how long ago others were in our situation."

"Yes... We are clearly not the first."

Though whether the previous inhabitants were captives like them, or this facility was repurposed, remained to be seen. He doubted that LACUNA would be forth coming with any of those answers either.

"Perhaps with time and patience, we will find out."

Though he hoped not to spend too much time here.

"Much of this facility is inaccessible." Which troubled him. It was very much like being held in a prison, after all. "If that were somehow changed..." He left the rest open. He knew better to think this LACUNA was never listening.

"Perhaps with good behavior. Cooperation is what they seem most interested in."

Whether he intended to cooperate with everything... well, that was yet to be decided. It all depended on what happened from this point on.

"Then it may be in our best interests to play along."

He didn't seem too pleased with that thought, but it was the only bit of constructive advice he had at the moment.

"I've no opposition to trouble, but I also enjoy breathing."

"Until an opportunity arises, yes, I agree."

Whatever that opportunity may be, he doesn't know. But it was always best to be prepared in case something did come along.

"Whatever they've done to Anakin clearly indicates they won't tolerate "deviant" behavior."

Obi-Wan's last statement caught Felix's attention and he narrowed his eyes, frowning on concern.

"What do you mean 'what they've done to him'?"

“After he attacked me, some droids carried him away. I don’t know where or what they did with him, though obviously he was brought back.”

He hasn’t actually asked because, well, he didn’t care to have a repeat of that fight.

Frowning, Felix watches him for a moment before nodding. "You and he have a history. Do you think, perhaps, he would be more open to discussing the situation with someone else?"

Obi-Wan considered that for a moment.

"Possibly."

That answer was a rather open ended one though. Anakin was rather unpredictable in his current state.

"It may depend on how you approach it. He certainly won't with me."

Felix, who'd lived his entire life in a viper's nest of those who thought him worthless simply because he, unlike the rest of his family, was incapable of naught but the simplest spells, nodded.

"I'll see if I can't get more information from him. We are all neighbors, after all."
